Winter Sunset at Holly Hills Country Club | Styled Shoot

hhcc-winter-styled-shoot_0005.jpg

FROM THE PHOTOGRAPHER
Chanon from Holly Hills reached out to me to see if I could coordinate a styled shoot to showcase their property and to show couples how wonderful a winter wedding can be! With snow in the forecast, we were able to pull this shoot together in nine days. I love a golden glow and sun flare, so being able to capture golden light in the snow made this so amazing!

My vision had a touch of art-deco with the jewelry, velvet, and beaded gown. Keri's bouquet was inspired by the one I wanted to use at my own wedding (had I not gotten married in negative 18-degree weather in Maine where my flowers would have frozen and wilted immediately!) Our models, Keri and Travis Gahman, are a former wedding couple of mine who are coming up on four years of marriage. Chanon really wanted photos at one of the three bridges at Holly Hills as that is one of their wedding selling points. We wound up shooting at 2:00 in the afternoon and caught a herd of deer running through!

Romantic Country Spring Estate Wedding

MillerWedding_-177.jpg

From the Photographer:

When Gabi and I met up for her to share her vision with me, I thought it was the perfect fit for her and Zach's big day! She raved about this barn of a family friend’s estate they were planning to use, the sweet friends that would step in as the bridal party, and the romantic-country feel she wanted their wedding day to have. Well let me tell you – that’s exactly what she made happen! Between the country music playing in the barn during most of the reception and the freshly squeezed orange crushes, their day was casual, fun, and full of joy! There were so many details throughout the day that were fun and full of them! My favorite was the truck that they have been working on for months! Zach used it to escort them from the ceremony and their sendoff that night which felt like a movie scene! Their day was one of the most romantic spring estate weddings that Howard County, Maryland has ever seen!

Wine and Blush Wedding at Springfield Manor

Wine and Blush Wedding at Springfield Manor

I’ll remember a lot about this wedding! I’ll remember the stunning florals, Kelsey standing in a sun-drenched field looking like a bride straight out of a Jane Austen novel, and a whole LOT of dancing with all 4 parents constantly out on the dance floor. But what I’ll remember most of all is THE most honest statement I’ve ever heard in wedding vows. Evan told Kelsey that, while she was beautiful, warm, and witty, the one thing that set her apart from everyone else he had ever met was this: she was the ONLY person he ever wanted to be around for more than short time!!

I wish I could tell you where Brad and Sarah’s story began, but it was so long ago that the details of it are all hazy to me. Brad is three years younger than me, so we passed each other briefly in high school when I was a senior and he was a freshman. I knew some of his friends by name, but not all of them, and when he started dating Sarah a few years ago he said, “You remember Sarah, right? Blonde hair, we used to ride dirtbikes together.” I recognized the name but that was about it! Even now, they still have classroom notes they passed to each other from back in the day, before they ever thought they’d be standing under a giant tree in front of their friends and family to start a forever kind of love.

Blush & Gold Wedding at Ceresville Mansion

Blush & Gold Wedding at Ceresville Mansion

My husband goes out of his way to find the good in everyone. He’s also economical with his speech. This means that the more he likes about someone, the less he says about them – he doesn’t have to enumerate their good points to convince himself that he likes them. So the highest compliment he can pay another man is simply to say, “He’s a good guy.” And sometimes he adds: “A really good guy.” The more time I spent around JD and the more I heard about him from his friends and family, the more my husband’s voice echoed in my head: “He’s a really good guy.” His dad and friends fleshed that out a little. It means: he’s a man of faith, a loyal man, and a good friend. He’s someone who will go the extra mile for friends and strangers alike. Others are drawn to his compassion, strength, and gentleness. He’s humble and does good to others without seeking acknowledgment from others, but rather, according to Matthew 6, he is building up his treasure in heaven.
